Barr Camp is needing help. Composting toilets are needing some tender loving care. This is a current, desperate need. It will involve working in teams, preferably 6 people. Two digging a nearby trench, two using the ATV / trailer to haul compost to the trench and two removing compost and each group rotating during the time.
Here’s the complete plan: On Aug 3, catch the 8 AM Cog, be there at 7:30. Your parking will be reimbursed for the Dillon parking lot, 134 Manitou Ave, ride the COG 6 mi’s up to the Mountain View trail. From there, it is a 1 ½ mi. hike to Barr Camp. Check in with the Barr Camp caretakers. Work days will be Aug 3 & 4. On the morning of Aug 5, hike 1 ½ mi’s back to Mountain View siding to catch the COG at approximately 11 AM for your ride back to Manitou Springs, either walk back to your vehicle at Dillon p/l or catch the free shuttle near the COG Station.
Thanking you for your help: Besides the COG rides, the caretakers will feed you well (some special meals) for all B/L/D during your stay, and offer free drinks, snacks, showers, lodging (bunk) and protective clothing as needed.
You will Need: Summer sleeping bag, personal items, camp shoes are helpful along with clothing for work and two full water containers.
Questions: Contact Chris Mattingly…. jamescmattingly@comcast.net Chris is your POC. Dean Waits will not be leading the trip. We are needing 6 people; other groups have been asked to help so register early.
Thank you,
Barr Camp Caretaker Team
