Hiking – Barr Camp via Barr Trail
Join us for a hike to Barr Camp, about halfway up the Barr Trail on Pikes Peak. Barr Camp is about midway along Barr Trail, run by a non-profit and staffed year round by caretakers who live on the property. The route offers great views of Pikes Peak and Colorado Springs and intersects with the Manitou Incline.

We will stop in Manitou or Colorado Springs after the hike for food and drinks.
Please do not make afternoon plans, as the hike and the drive will take up most of the day. This hike will be a social pace, with time for folks to take breaks as needed and see viewpoints.
The drive is ~90 minutes from Denver, depending on traffic, and we may need to budget time to find parking.
Please be on the lookout for an email from the leader to coordinate carpools ~5 days before the hike - as the route is off of I25, we want to try and have folks meet in their part of town, so as to avoid extra driving.
Because parking costs $20 at the trailhead and is extremely limited, carpooling is highly encouraged.
If folks cannot find parking at the Barr Trailhead, we will coordinate using the shuttle from Manitou.
Plan to meet up for carpools at 6:15am in Denver (dependent on carpool coordination). Plan to be at the trailhead by 8am to begin the hike.
Please bring cash for your drivers. Recommended is ~48 dollars a car, so 12/person if we are 4 to a car.
Required Equipment
Prepare for a long day of hiking, and be sure to bring enough snacks and water to stay hydrated and fueled. We can filter additional water at Barr Camp, and there are snacks available for purchase, so bring some cash if you plan to partake. Bring your 10 Essentials. Microspikes should not be necessary based on recent trail conditions, but leader will watch trip reports to see if that changes.
