This is a long drive from Denver for a day hike but worth it.  Possible snow on the trail the last half mile to the lake.  Much of this trail is sun exposed even though it's in the trees.  Parts of the trail may be wet due to recent snow melt.  A little easy route finding around some fallen trees.  The forest is beginning to recover and the ground cover is thick and electric green.  On the day the leader scouted the trail, the marsh marigolds and glacier lilies were everywhere and so were the elk tracks!
