On the 11th of July, a gallant band of adventurers shall embark on a day destined for both glory and mirth. Their odyssey will commence upon the gentle curves of the Lion’s Lair Trail, where shaded pine corridors and sunlit sandstone lead to the proud summit of Mount Sanitas. There, with the town of Boulder stretched below like a painted scroll, they shall bask in triumph and fresh mountain air. But the tale does not end in the high country—for as the sun begins its golden descent, the scene will shift to the regal halls of Pharaoh’s Billiards in Longmont. There, beneath the watchful gaze of faux pharaohs and glowing felt, a noble competition in the ancient art of billiards shall unfold. With cues in hand and pride on the line, champions will rise, legends will clash, and onlookers shall cheer as the final 8-ball drops into its fateful pocket. Mt Sanits will be overcome in ~4 miles and 700 ft elevation gain. (Mt Sanitas - Lions Lair - CalTopo) Pharaoh's Billiards will take a lot more.
Pharaoh’s Billiards began as Pharaoh’s American Grill & Billiards in Superior, Colorado, in early 2023, founded by David “Mot” Motarjemi, a former engineer and avid pool player. The original location featured high-quality Diamond-brand tables and a full-service kitchen and bar, but by late 2024, Motarjemi decided to relocate to downtown Longmont to better serve the local billiards community. He purchased a historic 1910 building at 380 Main Street—formerly home to Woolworth’s and Breaker’s—and reopened in March 2025 with an expanded layout including 12 to 14 tables, a full bar, food service, and dedicated space for leagues and tournaments. The move was well received, filling a longstanding void in Longmont’s recreational scene and establishing Pharaoh’s as a hub for both casual players and competitive pool enthusiasts.
