Hiking – Brainard Lake Picnic Site - Jean Lunning Trail

Wildflower Walk - Discover Subalpine Wildflowers!!! We will explore an area near Brainard Lake at the height of the summer bloom. This leisurely walk is for those new to Colorado flora but will have lots of fun facts for the more experienced. Barbara Fahey, founder of CSU's Native Plant Master Program will be our instructor. Please note:  this is not a hike as there will be a lot of stopping and learning about the different plants.  Barbara's knowledge of native Colorado plants is astounding and we are so fortunate to have her lead this walk for us!!!  Our walk will start around 9:00AM and end close to 12:30PM.  We will walk south of Brainard Lake to the Niwot Cutoff Trail and stay mostly on this trail for the entirety of our walk.  See map below:

Please contact Jeanne (my email is in my profile) if you want to meet any where other than the two above places.  We can only take 3 cars to the actual trailhead as we only have 3 timed entry permits.  If you want to meet us close the the TH, you will have to be willing to leave your car at the Brainard Lake Winter Parking Lot (aka Brainard Lake Gateway Trailhead)
