Let's get out and do some high altitude hiking!!!  Chief Mountain is a beautiful hike that starts in the trees and has really nice expansive views above tree line.  The trail is a bit steep in places, but worth the effort!!!  For a nice warm up, I've added on a lovely old connecter road that runs perpendicular to the Chief Mountain Trail for some added mileage and views.

RMOTHG Members Only Please - We will start our hike from the Mestaa'Ėhehe Mountain Fire Tower Road for 4/10th of a mile, turn west and hike along an old road bed (it parallels CO-103) until it ends, turn around and then hike up Chief Mountain and back down to our trailhead.  We will have intermittent views along the way of James Peak, Indian Peaks and at the top of Chief Mountain we'll have an in-your-face stunning view of Mount Blue Sky!!!
