Hiking – Echo Lake Park

See the Perseid Meteor Shower in the darkness of Echo Lake. There will be an option for a short (1.5 mile) hike when we first arrive and then a return to the lake to watch the meteor shower until around 10:00 when the moon is due to rise. NOTE: Scheduled for Aug 12, with rain date of Aug 13. We are hoping for partly cloudy or better sky.

This is a nighttime activity. We will meet at Wooly Mammoth Park and Ride, section HH at 6:45pm for 7:00pm departure. Please bring a chair or blanket to use while watching the stars, and remember it can be cold (40 degrees) at this altitude in the evening. For those who wish, we will hike out to the old refreshment stand and back (about 1.5 miles) and then gather at the lake as the skies darken. The moon is scheduled to rise at 9:45, so best viewing will be between sunset at 8 and 9:45. We will plan to return to the park and ride by 10:45 or so. NOTE: Scheduled for Aug 12, with rain date of Aug 13.
