The goal of this hike is to summit James Peak from Loch Lomond trailhead. It will be an 5 mile round trip, with 2,088 ft elevation gain, with James peak sitting at 13,308 ft. The first part of the route will include some trail blazing, until we meet up with the Continental Divide trail above tree line. From there it is a clear route up to James Peak.

This is "13er", please do not underestimate the difficulty due to the short mileage. Not recommended as your first 13er since part of the trail will be trail-blazing/ off trail conditions.

In addition, do not underestimate the change in weather as we ascend the mountain.

This is a class 2 route: you might have to use you hands to scramble but mostly a walk-up the mountain.

The route to the trailhead is hard 4x4 and both leaders will be taking their vehicles for car pool to the trailhead. We will all meet at the same place and carpool from Denver.

Denver: car share meet a Wooly Mammoth AA section (6:15 a.m.) https://maps.app.goo.gl/VrnVRPdk1WpzubRTA (18560 U.S. Hwy 40, Golden, CO 80401)

We will car share to the trailhead, Loch Lomond Parking area for a 7:10 start to the hike. https://maps.app.goo.gl/ksmTNjnNY2xfhdW19
