Day 1 drive to the Fall Creek trailhead, Hwy 50 to the Little Cimarron Road #864. Little Cimarron Road and Road #865 to the trailhead approximately 20.3 miles from Hwy 50. 106 miles from Grand Junction one way. Hike the Fall Creek trail #231 following Firebox Creek and Fall Creek south through 2 scenic valleys approximately 3.9 miles and 500' one way backpacking and camp. Day 2 hike off trail peaks 13051 and 13016 approximately 4 miles and 2500' one way. These are 2 small remote but ranked 13'ers in the Uncompahgre Wilderness. Leader hiked this valley in 2012 and saw a large elk herd in this area. Day 3  Pack up and return to the trailhead. Leader expects the off trail hiking to be mostly on tundra. No dogs. There may be an elk herd in this area. Total mileage and elevation listed is approximate. Uncompahgre National Forest. There may be archery hunters in this area in September.
