The trip starts with an ascent up a ridge as you leave Wild Basin. Next there is a decent into the Fox Creek drainage where we will meet the Allenspark trail on the other side of the valley. The views to the north include Longs Peak, Mt. Meeker, Pagoda, and Chief's Head. Then we proceed west and hike 2 miles to Finch lake. We will go through wooded forests for this portion of the trip. Hopefully we will see some song birds and maybe a moose!  At the lake we will see views of Copeland Mountain and Elk tooth. We plan on having lunch at the lake.

Fort Collins participants will meet at JJ's at the SW corner of Harmony and Taft Hill Rd. at 5:50 am with a 6:00 departure. Ride share will be 10.00. If you are coming from the Denver area we will meet at the Finch Lake TH one mile past the Wild Basin pay station at 7:15 with a departure time of 7:30. We will organize a carpool when the trip gets closer. Carpooling is encouraged, because there is very limited parking at the TH.
