From the high point we descend towards a small stream where will again work our way back up an ascent towards windy saddle. In the last 2 miles there is a section of ledge trail and some small simple scrambling over a rock and boulder field. It is not difficult but I always use gloves on this section (maybe 300 feet).  You should be comfortable with the idea of having a drop off on the ledge section - its only for a few hundred feet and wide enough to walk normally.

I would classify this hike as a "moderate" for most people - a B series hike.

Mostly we are in the trees with some smaller in the sun sections.

You should be in reasonable shape to do this one:  1.5 to 2 mph speed. We will pace ourselves though so as to make it enjoyable. I

f you are observant you usually are rewarded with some wildlife encounters on this trail

I have seen all kinds of wildlife on this hike at various times: Grouse, eagles, hawks, owls, Deer, Elk, etc.

We will meet at 6:45 AM for a 7AM departure at the Coors Tek parking lot across from the CMC / AMC building at Jackson and 10th street in Golden. We will carpool to the windy gap parking lot and leave a car shuttle there: We will then proceed to the Beaver Brook trailhead at Genesee mountain Park - Chief Hosa exit off of I70.
