We will gain 800' elevation over 2.5 miles walking to the radio tower on a wide dirt and gravel service road. Most of the elevation gain is in the first mile. The moon will rise at 7:26pm and the sun will set at 7:20pm. We'll stop for some moon gazing at the radio tower and then walk back along the same path.
There are bathrooms at the trailhead.
Snacks and warm drinks will be available in the parking lot after the hike.
We will meet at 6 p.m. at William F. Hayden Park parking lot, 1000 S. Rooney Road, Lakewood, CO 80228, which is just north of the Dinosaur Ridge Gift Shop and Museum.
Required Equipment
We will be hiking at night so bring a headlamp (although you may not need it if the moon is bright enough) and trekking poles (if you use them). It's usually windy at the top so layers are recommended.
