Hiking – Hessie TH to Devils Thumb

A long loop hike in the southern section of Indian Peaks Wilderness to Continental Divide points including Devils Thumb and Peak 12639.

This adventure will be part of several trips along the Continental Divide from the south to north. In this installment we will hike the Devils Thumb Trl from Hessie TH up to the Continental Divide and summit the namesake pass and Peak 12639 before returning via the Mount Jasper SE ridge.

Note that this hike is open to all strong and experienced hikers easily capable of maintaining a good pace throughout the route. It will also entail off-trail hiking and brief but moderate scrambling over a portion of the Jasper ridge. You should be comfortable on Class 3 terrain.

We will meet at the Coal Canyon carpool lot on Plainview Rd just north of Golden.
