Hiking – High Line Canal

This walk will take us from where the canal trail picks up along South Santa Fe Drive east of the Plum Creek break, 5 miles north to Fly'n B Park. It is hike #4 of 14 hiking segments along the canal. It covers segments 4 and 5 of the Highline Canal Guidebook, roughly mile 10.75 to 15.5. If you are new to the area, want to stay active this winter, avoid I-70 traffic, or just enjoy walking the canal, come join us.  We'll be walking most Fridays.

From the starting point along South Santa Fe Drive we'll walk a short way south along the canal to the private property boundary at the Plum Creek break in the trail, then turn around and head north, parallel to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad line, past Spring Creek Pond, and under the new Santa Fe underpass. Then around the golf course past the Marcy Gulch Flume, Windcrest and back to Fly'n B Park.  This walk covers segments 4 and 5 in the Highline Canal guidebook. and is about 5 miles.  One or more drivers will take the carpool drivers back to their cars after the hike.

If you are new to the area, want to stay active this winter, avoid I-70 traffic, or just enjoy walking the canal, come join us.  We'll be walking most Fridays.

We will meet at 8:50am at Fly'n B Park 2910 W. Plaza Drive, Highlands Ranch 80129 for 9am departure. We'll meet at the lower, larger parking area.  There is a restroom at the upper parking area if needed. We are meeting at the end point of the hike and will carpool to the starting point on South Santa Fe Drive.
