From the starting point at S Elati Street we'll head east past Horseshoe Park, Lee Gulch and its wooden flume, Grandpa’s acres, to Broadway. We have 3 crossings of Broadway as we make our way north into Centennial. We’ll stop in Milliken Park and contemplate Pickletown which employed about 50 people in the 1890’s processing fruits and vegetables grown in this area. We’ll then make our way over to DeKoevend Park and the end of our walk. This walk covers segments 8 and 9 in the Highline Canal guidebook, and is about 5.2 miles. We walk at a fast clip of about 2.5 to 3 miles per hour, so even though the hike is rated easy for distance and elevation, it is not a slow hike. One or more drivers will take the carpool drivers back to their cars after the hike.
We will meet at 8:50 at Julia DeKoevend park, 6301 S University Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121 for 9am departure. There is a restroom at the park so come early if you need to use it before we depart. We are meeting at the end point of the hike and will carpool to the starting point at 7595 S. Elati St., Littleton, CO 80120.
