Hiking – High Line Canal
This walk will take us from Julia DeKoevend Park to the E Orchard Rd trailhead. It is hike #7 of 14 hiking sections along the canal. It covers segments 10 and 11 of the Highline Canal Guidebook, roughly mile 25.5 to mile 30. If you are new to the area, want to stay active this winter, avoid I-70 traffic, or just enjoy walking the canal, come join us. We'll be walking most Fridays.

From the starting point at Julia DeKoevend Park we'll head north past Goodsen Rec Center, Wagon Wheel bench, Sumac Hill Overlook, and the Englewood Water and Sewer facility. We’ll pass under University Blvd into Greenwood Village, past the siphon under Little Dry Creek, Highline Canal Conservancy offices and end at E Orchard Rd trailhead. This walk covers segments 10 and 11 in the Highline Canal guidebook, and is about 4.5 miles. We walk at about 2.5 to 3 miles per hour, so even though the hike is rated easy for distance and elevation, it is not a slow hike. One or more drivers will take the carpool drivers back to their cars after the hike.
We will meet at 8:50 at E Orchard Rd Trailhead, 4011 E Orchard Rd Greenwood Village, CO 80121 for 9am departure. There is a restroom at the trailhead so come early if you need to use it before we depart. We are meeting at the end point of the hike and will carpool to the starting point at Julia DeKoevend park, 6301 S University Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.
