Hiking – High Line Canal

From the starting point at Triple Creek TH we walk east along Colfax Avenue and cross at Tower Rd, as the canal heads north, then back across Tower Rd as the canal makes its way north on the west side of the road.  We’ll pass another historic wooden canal sign, then loop behind some warehouses and eventually make our way back to cross Tower Rd once again as we pass into segment 25 and the highlight of this part of the trail, the Flyover bridge across I-70, with its spectacular views of the Front Range. Once across the bridge, we’ll cross under 38^th Avenue, past the Derby Lateral, Marrama Elementary School, Ensenada Park, and end at Green Valley Ranch E Park.  This walk covers segments 24 and 25 of the Highline Canal Guidebook, roughly mile 61.5 to mile 66.5 and is about 5 miles. We walk at about 2.5 to 3 miles per hour, so even though the hike is easy for distance and elevation, it is not a slow hike.  One or more drivers will take the carpool drivers back to their cars after the hike.

We’ll meet at 8:50 at Green Valley Ranch East Park, 4455 Jebel St, Denver, CO 80249 for 9am departure.  We are meeting at the end point of the hike and will carpool to the starting point at Triple Creek TH at 18000 E Colfax Ave, Aurora, CO 80011. There is a portolet at Triple Creek TH.
