Hiking – Ouzel Falls
This will be a hike starting at the Ouzel Lake trailhead at the end of the road into Wild Basin area of RMNP. This hike should offer several attractions along the way, including Copeland Falls and Calypso Cascades. Lower Copeland Falls, our first destination along the route is about 1/3 mile. The Upper Falls are about another 1/4 mile further along North St. Vrain creek. We will then continue along the trail to Calypso Cascades and Ouzel Falls. Runoff should provides us with spectacular views of the water features.

There are 2 meeting locations, depending upon where you are coming from: 1) JAX parking lot (SE edge), 2665 W. Eisenhower Blvd., Loveland, at 7:00 a.m., OR 2) Estes Park Visitor Center (far east end of parking lot), 500 Big Thompson Ave. (off of U.S. Hwy. 34) at 7:45 a.m. PLEASE let Anita Wright know which meeting location you will be at (call, text or email to 970-222-5920 or adwright2001@yahoo.com). We will carpool to the Wild Basin entrance of RMNP (16 miles south).
My plan is for a leisurely hike while enjoying the views and water features. We will have a snack/lunch at Ouzel Falls. After our break, we will hike back down the trail to the trailhead, then carpool back to the Estes Park Visitor Center.
Required Equipment
Bring your essentials, lunch, and water. Snowshoes should not be needed. However, the trail may be muddy in spots, so waterproof boots and gaiters may make for a more comfortable hike. Also, weather can be unpredictable, so remember to bring a rain jacket. RMNP pass required for each vehicle.
