Hiking – Paint Mines Interpretive Park
Easy 3-4 mile hike with little elevation gain through this historic and unique area with spires, hoodoos, and brilliantly colored layers of oxidixed clay. There are lots of interpretive graphics telling the stories of how this area has been used for thousands of years.

Bring the ten essentials, water, snacks, rain/wind gear, and sun protection. There is little to no shade and current prediction (Monday) is about 15 mph north winds, 64 degrees. Lunch at picnic tables by the parking area. NO DOGS allowed in the park.

The leader will meet the group at the interpretive park. This park is approximately 75 miles from Pueblo and will take about 1.5 hours travel time. Plan to meet at the North trail trailhead parking area at 10:30 for a 10:45 hike start time. This is the main parking area and has restrooms.. If you need assistance in arranging carpooling, reach out to Sue Greer, 214-552-9480 to forward information to the group. The hike begins and ends at the trailhead.
Required Equipment
There is little to no shade, no water, and expect light to moderate winds. Bring your essentials, sun protection, a chair or sit pad for breaks, snacks and a lunch for after the hike.
