This will be a very pretty 4.5 mile loop hike in a more secluded forested area of RMNP, starting from the Fall River Visitor Center. We will hike past the Aspenglen Campground, then with a modest 450' gain, hike toward Deer Mountain and the Horseshoe Park area of Rocky Mountain National Park. Because this is a relatively short hike on the first day of Daylight Saving Time, we will begin our hike at 9:45 a.m. (which would have been 8:45 a.m.). We will enjoy a snack during the hike, but on our way back, stop for lunch at the Aspenglen campground before returning to the visitor center. Please bring your essentials, water, lunch, good hiking boots, and microspikes, in case the trail is icy.
There are 2 meeting places, depending upon where you are coming from: 1) JAX parking lot (SE edge), 2665 W. Eisenhower Blvd., Loveland, at 8:30 a.m. (Daylight Saving Time) to carpool to the Fall River Visitor Center, OR 2) Fall River Visitor Center, U.S. Hwy. 34, (before entrance to RMNP), at 9:30 a.m. (Daylight Saving Time). Park at the far west end of the parking lot of the visitor center.
***Please note that with the time change, we are losing an hour as we "spring forward" in time. So what would have been 7:30 a.m. will be 8:30 a.m. [Therefore, it will FEEL like you are meeting us at JAX at 7:30 a.m. or the visitor center at 8:30 a.m.]
PLEASE contact Anita Wright (text, call or email 970-222-5920 or adwright2001@yahoo.com) to let her know which meeting location you will be at.
