Hiking – Soapstone Prairie Natural Area

We will start at the upper trailhead and hike portions of the Towhee Loop and the Mahogany Loop.

  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 7.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 750 ft

There is no water available at Soapstone, so please bring enough for the hike. Weather can be unpredictable, so bring some wind protection. It can also get hot, so you also have some sun protection (sunscreen, hat and sunglasses). The trail can be rocky, so trekking poles and sturdy footwear will be helpful. Last but not least, this is rattlesnake country. So we will use caution and hike on the trail.  If anyone has any questions or concerns, please let me know via email at trout.bill@gmail.com or text me at 970-222-3398

We will meet in the parking lot of the old, now closed Albertsons. It is located on the SE corner of Willox & College, just south of the King Soopers. Let's meet at 7:50am and leave promptly at 8:00am. The drive will take us about 40 minutes.
