Hiking – South Mesa TH - South Boulder Peak re Shadow Mountain Trail

This is a Leader in Training (LIT) Trip for Valerie Garrison. Begin the hike on easy groomed meadow trails from South Mesa trailhead to the base of Shadow Canyon. The ascent up Shadow Canyon is steep and uneven, with large boulders and roots the whole way to the South Boulder-Bear saddle. We will turn L (south) at the saddle to ascend a few switchbacks and a short class 2 boulder field to reach the summit of South Boulder Peak. Optional: We will decide as a group from the summit whether to add Bear Peak before the descent.
