Hiking – Spruce Mountain Trail

Let's meet at 9:30 am at the parking lot off of Spruce Mountain Road.  Please note: This hike may become a 5 mile snowshoe if appreciable snow falls by January 25th.  The trip will then be shortened to a 5 mile loop.  If this trip becomes a snowshoe we will only travel on  the Oak Cutoff, the Upper Loop, the Service Road and return via Eagle Ridge and Eagle Pass Trails for a total of 5 miles.

Let's meet at 9:30 am at the parking lot off of Spruce Mountain Road.

We'll hike the Oak Cutoff, the Upper Loop, the Service Road,  and possibly with the option to hike Eagle Ridge Trail to the historic gravesite, and return via the Eagle Ridge and Eagle Pass Trails.  

Please bring your ten essentials, ample food and water (1 1/2-2 liters of water at minimum), warm layers, ice walkers, and possibly snowshoes and gaiters.  Be prepared for muddy, snowy, and/or icy conditions.

Driving directions from Colorado Springs: Take I-25 north to the Greenland Exit 167. Turn left or west at the stop sign, west 1/4 mile on Greenland Road, curve south 1/2 mile, and go west 1/4 mile crossing two railroad crossings, and go west on Noe Road for 1 mile to Spruce Mountain Road.  Turn left/south onto Spruce Mountain Road for 1 mile to the parking lot which will be on your right.  Please note Greenland and Noe Roads are dirt road, but are passable for passenger cars.  Please be prepared for icy and/or muddy roads.
