Hike Stultz Trail starting from East Bear Trailhead on a well defined trail with progressively ascending terrain through mostly forested areas until reaching an open meadow.  Leave the trail in the meadow to bushwhack to an area of rocks.  A short distance of class 2 scrambling is needed to reach the summit. Although the Stultz Trail is well defined, the trail is very rocky with areas of erosion due to amicable sharing of the trail with dirt bikes.
This is the time of year that afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible. We will plan to be off the summit by noon. We will tentatively plan to eat lunch on the summit or if needed some place in the meadow depending on the time of day and weather conditions. For those who are interested, plans for an after hike celebratory gathering in the Canon City area can be made.
If I have not had the pleasure of hiking with you before, I will want to connect with you before Thursday June 5th at 5:00 pm to determine if there are any medical conditions you have that I should be aware of and to get a feel for your level of fitness by learning about the mileage and gain of hikes you have completed in the last two months.
An email will be sent to all registered hike participants on the afternoon or evening of Friday, June 6th with details of the hike including a weather forecast.
Pueblo participants will meet at the Southeast corner of Albertson's Parking lot at 1601 Hwy 50, Pueblo, 81008 for a 7:00 am departure; Colorado Springs hikers will meet at the Loves gas station at 690 Doc Holiday Dr, Canon City, 81212 for a 7:30 am departure; or meet at the East Bear Trailhead for an 8:00 am departure. The hike starts at the trailhead.
