We will be hiking the Henderson Spur from the Jones Pass Road to the Mount Nystrom Trail/Continental Divide trail and then west on the CDT to the saddle at 11, 960 feet elevation. The saddle sits in tundra and has views of the valleys to the north and the south. There are roots, rocks, stream crossings, possible tree crossings, narrow paths on steep slopes, gorgeous views of the mountains all around and summer flowers!! Also before we reach our lunch spot, there is a narrow path boulderfield that we cross. Maybe we'll see some picas!
AS WE ARE ABOVE TREELINE FOR MUCH OF THIS TRIP, IT IS IMPORATANT THAT WE CAN MAINTAIN A MODERATE PACE IN ORDER TO BEAT ANY AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS. IF YOU CANNOT MAINTAIN A MODERATE PACE, THIS TRIP IS NOT FOR YOU.
Meet at Woolly Mammoth section MM for a 6:30am start.
