Hiking – Wheeler Lake

Near Alma, following the rocky road for jeeps, we shall hike up to the beautiful Wheeler Lake at the base of surrounding mountains.

  • Hike begins and ends at the trailhead.
  • There are a number of places where we may encounter run-off water, and we do have to cross a waterfall. Poles are advised to help with water crossings. Also carrying an extra pair of socks could be helpful to avoid having wet feet. If you have waterproof boots, wear them.   
  • Weather permitting, we shall spend some time at the lake to enjoy the scenery and have snacks/early lunch.
  • The pace of this hike will be on the slower side. If you are looking for a faster pace hike, this is not the one for you.

Hike will begin at the trailhead at 7:30 am. As parking space is limited at the trailhead, we shall meet in the Parking Lot of Walmart in Woodland Park at 5:30 am to assemble into carpools. The address for carpool is: 19600 US-24, Woodland Park, CO 80863.
