This trip is sponsored by the CMC Conservation Department and the Denver Group Conservation & Trails Committee.

From our parking area, we will follow the Mt. Lincoln Road high into the amphitheatre, to the road's closure. At this point, we enter private property owned by Earth Energy Resources. The company has graciously allowed access through their property to the Russia Mine site for this trip. Once past the mine, it's a short climb to the summit, which is open to public access from Kite Lake. We return by the same route. All participants will sign the company's liability waiver.

Once past the closure, the jeep road continues to the Mine and becomes very rocky. Sturdy hiking boots, with trekking poles, are recommended instead of low top trail runners. Bring a good hat, sunscreen, lip balm, plenty of water, wind gear for the summit, and other 10 essentials.

Meeting place will be along State Hwy. 8 by The Fort Restaurant, south of Morrison and 1/2 mile north from US 285. An early start is desirable due to the possibility of late summer storms.

Rendezvous place in Fairplay will be the Sinclair station on US 285 at the east side of town.
