This is a CMC Bobcats trip.  The Bobcats mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, mostly on weekdays, all year long, for our mostly 50+ constituents. We don't have dues or elections and we invite ALL CMC members to sign up for any Bobcat trip. You can search the CMC Calendar for Bobcat trips any time by selecting Bobcats Section in the CMC Trip Calendar pull-down menu. We send out a monthly email to our members with all the coming month's trips, just after those trips are activated. This is the second of two hikes in the Leadville / Buena Vista area over the weekend Aug 27 - 28.  The leaders will be in Leadville, there are hotels in Leadville and Buena Vista, as well as some camping areas near the Winfield Trailhead.

The Lake Ann hike begins at the same trailhead used for Mt Huron (Clear Creek / South Winfield).  We will meet at the 2WD trailhead in Winfield at 7:30 am. If you are coming from Denver, the driving time from the The Fort Restaurant, 19192 CO-8, Morrison, CO 80465 is about 2.5 hours.

From Leadville: Drive 20 miles south on U.S. 24 and turn right on the Chaffee County 390 road.  From Buena Vista: Drive 14.5 miles north on U.S. 24 and turn left on the Chaffee County 390 road.  On the 390 road (dirt), drive 11.8 miles to Winfield. Turn left and drive 0.1 mile to reach the lower, 2WD trailhead on the left.

For the hike, we will follow the 4WD road about 1.7 miles, then join the Continental Divide Trail.  We will follow the Continental Divide trail to Lake Anne (11,805).
