We will probably meet at the Target parking lot on the SW corner of Troutman and College. Meeting time will be around 7am. More information will be email as we near the trip date.

This will be an intermediate snowshoe trip. The trip will begin either at the Glacier Gorge trailhead or Bear Lake trailhead. It depends on parking. Either way, we will snowshoe up Glacier Gorge trail to the 'Winter Trail' and continue up the winter trail to Mill Creek Junction. From there we will snowshoe to Loch Vale via the winter route through Icy Brook Gorge. Once at the Loch, we will cross and continue to Embryo Pond.

The trip will continue from Embryo Pond and sort of retrace our track back to Loch Vale where we will again leave the trail and go off trail to Serendipity Pond. Depending on conditions and group desires, we may climb West Glacier Knob and enjoy the views before retracing our track back to Serendipity Pond. We will then continue off trail toward Nymph Lake. At Nymph, we will take the Fire Trail back to Bear Lake.

We will take breaks when needed. Lunch will probably be at Embryo, Serendipity or on top of West Glacier Knob.

This trip has a lot of off trail travel. Snowshoeing off trail requires more energy and time. So if you sign up for this trip, be sure you are comfortable with traveling off trail.

Required Equipment

Due to the amount of off trail, snowshoes will be required. I would also recommend poles and gaiters. We will also encounter windy conditions, so bring you wind gear; windproof outer shell, face protection (I like a buff), eye protection (sunglasses or goggles) and of course hat and gloves. And everyone should have the Ten Essentials.
