This snowshoe/hike loop explores some of the best parts of RMNP near Bear Lake. The loop is about 5 miles with about 1400 feet of gain and will involve traveling both on trails and on off-trail terrain. We’ll start at Bear Lake and head down to the Glacier Gorge trail junction where we will pick up the winter shortcut taking us up to the Mills Lake trail junction and then proceed on to The Loch. Then we will head to Lake Haiyaha taking an off-trail path that goes just west of West Glacier Knob and involves some very fun downhill snowshoeing. After enjoying the wonderful views at Lake Haiyaha, we’ll double back partway until we can easily navigate to Nymph Lake and back down to Bear Lake. It is best to have snowshoes for the off-trail travel and traction devices for the trails

When requesting permission to join the trip, please note recent activities (hiking or snowshoeing) that are similar in scope that you've completed in the last six months.
