Mountaineering – Pikes Peak - Barr Trail

We will climb Pikes Peak with an overnight at Barr Camp in the cabin. From the A-Frame, we will traverse or contour south into the huge gully about the small lake called The Crater. This is the gully you look down into from Barr Trail overlook called The Cirque at 13,200.

We will hike to Barr Camp, Friday afternoon to spend the night. Then we will climb to the summit Saturday morning. However, we turn south at the A-Frame and contour over to climb the coulior to the south of the standard Barr Trail route and above the pond called The Crater. This it the huge gully you see at the 13,200 overlook on Barr Trail called "The Cirque".

If there is any snow, this will be a snow climb. So crampons and ice axe may be needed.

We plan to reserve a bunk in Bunkhouse. $47.70/person. Or we can rent the Upper Cabin for $110 flat rate plus $25/person. If you want the Spaghetti dinner, it's $20 for overnight guests.

Friday afternoon we will meet up at location to carpool to the trailhead once we find out where people are coming from. We are hoping to find someone to drive us and drop us off so we don't leave a car in the paid lot.

We hope to also find someone to drive us off of the summit on Saturday.
