New & Prospective Member Hike – K-Lynn Cameron
This trip is intended as an orientation hike for new and prospective members to the Northern Colorado Group of the CMC. We will also cover basic concepts of: the process of signing up for CMC trips; Leave No Trace principals; 10 Essentials (in your pack); and risk management on CMC trips. All members are welcome to join, but priority will be given to those who are signing up for their first CMC trip or those who may have been on a limited number of CMC trips in the past but would like a refresher on these basic concepts.

Join us for a New and Prospective Member hike in Red Mountain Open Space.
45 Minutes from downtown Fort Collins, the 16,000 acre Red Mountain OS offers 20+ miles of hiking and biking trails with connections to the adjacent Soapstone and Cheyenne Rim (Wyoming) open spaces. The area lies along the boundary between the mountains and plains and provides habitat for plants and wildlife from both life zones.
This will be a loop hike on dirt trails and in sandy washes through colorful rock formations, upland scrub, and rolling grasslands. We will be using the Ruby Wash, K-Lynn Cameron, Big Hole and Sinking Sun trails. This will be a casually paced trip with a total of approximately 4-5 hours "on the trail" including stops.
Feel free to contact the leader with any questions at lynnclayco@gmail.com.
The exact meeting time and place will be emailed to participants a few days before the trip, but expect to meet about 7:45 am in North Fort Collins for our ~45 minute drive to the trailhead.
