RMOTHG Trip – Abyss Lake Trail

A fine destination hike up to the intersection of Abyss Lake Trail and Rosalie Trail. Beautiful meadow here at treeline with a fantastic view of Mount Bierstadt's SE ridge. At 8.5 miles / 1700 ft of elevation gain this hike will be moderately challenging - with the final mile being quite steepish and rocky. Moose are a common in this area.

Please assess your physical/aerobic conditioning for an 8.5 mile hike at high altitude and gaining 1700 feet of elevation gain - while maintaining a steady pace with minimal stops. Anticipated time for hike:  6 hours.

Morrison PnR:   470 & Morrison Rd (CO 8): 3485 S. Rooney Rd, Morrison, CO. From the Morrison Rd (CO 8) exit of 470 (5A) go west towards Morrison. Take immediate right on South Rooney Rd. Dirt Parking Lot is directly on your right across from the gas station/convenience store.
