RMOTHG Trip – Staunton State Park - Elk Falls

aka - Elk Falls via Scout Line and Marmot Passage with an in-your-face view of Chimney Rock via a short spur trail. Besides Elk Falls, there are sweeping views to the south (especially from the new bench on Scout Line), and stunning views of Lion's Head from Marmot Passage in addition to cool rock formations. Please look at the map (below) to see the crazy elevation profile.  Starting at the Lazy V Trailhead, we'll hike up Scout Line and Marmot Passage Trails, before heading up Chimney Rock Trail, bypassing Elk Falls Trail momentarily to our stunning view of Chimney Rock.  After our lunch break at Elk Falls, we will return on Bugling Elk and Staunton Ranch Trails.
