RMOTHG Trip – Wheeler Lakes

A moderate stroll through alpine meadows to two lakes.

This hike is approximately 6.5 miles with 1450 feet elevation gain.  It is an out and back hike with views of Copper Mountain and the Gore Range.  The high point of the hike is approximately 11,100 ft.  The weather predicted to be nice so this might be the final time to enjoy our beautiful October weather.

Our pace will be moderate at 1.5 miles per hour plus or minus to adjust for individual paces.

We will have lunch at the lakes.

Meet at the Wooly Mammoth Park and Ride, secion BB at 7:15 AM on October 23rd for a no later than 7:30 departure.  A Google Map of the meet-up location and the trailhead parking is available at this link -->  Map of wooly mammoth parking area to trailhead.

We will make a brief stop on the way to the trailhead to use the restroom and purchase drinks or snacks if desired.  The stop will be at the gas station in Downieville.

Bring rain gear, gloves, warm clothing, plenty of food and water.  Recommend trekking poles.
