Technical Rock Climbing Crag Trip, with overnight camping options at dispersed campground.
Participants MUST HAVE at very least Top Rope (PBUS technique) belay skills. Leading, Lead-belay, and anchor/route-cleaning is desired. This area is single-pitch only, but has an abundance of sport and trad or mixed. Sport anchors are the usual, with some having mussy anchors (clean by lower).
This trip REQUIRES Leader's permission, and not for individuals new to CMC world. Participants must have previously climbed with (or next to) the leader. Leader will consider (with prior approval) of (1) guest joining participant, and are approved on case-by-case basis -- (guest must have required knowledge of minimal belay skills/techniques and under supervision of their CMC sponsor) -- and upon Trip Leader's approval, the guest MUST take action to sign up on CMC.org with a user profile (it's free for 2 trips before membership needs to be taken), AND signed CMC participant waiver BEFORE the end of registration closing (5pm on Wed 20 Aug).
INFO for the Crag: local book (found at Mtn Chalet in COS): "Rock Climbing Guide to Badger Mountain (Second Edition, March 2021)" by Bob Robertson and Staci Suter
Cell reception is limited in the area, but there is service.
If trip reaches maximum participant number, please reach out and sign-up on waiting list.
NOTE: Leader might have "Meeko" (dog); but this is not considered a dog-friendly trip (allowance made since this is leader's dog and volunteering to lead multi-day trip).
Meet at the dispersed camping area before/after the climb; or at the crag for some climbing on either day of climbing. (average climbing grade: 5.7 to -5.11)
Locations sent out via email NLT 1pm Friday before trip from Leader's (SaraandMeeko's) gmail account.
Plan for "dispersed camping" site(s) just before the climbing area.
If you do not like dispersed camping, you can reserve your own site (and pay -- currently $28 per night for 6 ppl, max 2 vehicles per site) for a designated site at the Eleven Mile State Park, and meet at each morning at crag to climb. Sites are currently available at: https://www.cpwshop.com/camping/eleven-mile-state-park/r/campgroundDetails.page?parkID=50024&tab=sites&critShowType=2
(we are climbing somewhere off County Road 92; before the Eleven Mile State Park entrance)
NOTE: Co Rd 92 is a grated gravel road and can be very annoying for some vehicles to manage. Expect this for 10 miles (one-way) to and from climbing/camping from Hwy 24.
Note: Please have your plan of action when you reach out to leader -- planning to camp with us at dispersed site? Only want to join for 1 day (which day: Sat or Sun) and not camp? Car or tent or RV camp?
