Scramble – State Forest State Park
Optional overnight scrambling trip for the Northern Colorado Alpine Scrambling Course. From West Branch Trailhead on Laramie River Road near 8600', backpack approximately 6 miles to 10,600' near treeline below Island Lake to make camp. In the morning, scramble class 3+ terrain to Island Lake Peak at 12,220'. This seldom climbed peak is also referred to as Peak 12220b and is designated the "ruggedest peak in the Rawah." After summit, break camp and return home.

This is an elective scrambling trip for the NoCo Alpine Scrambling Course. Roster priority will be given to current and former ASC students and instructors.
This trip will involve a challenging 6 mile backpack with approximately 2,000' elevation gain to camp, then an additional 1,600' gain on summit day scrambling over class 3+ terrain to the summit. Trip scheduled for Friday, 29 Aug - Saturday, 30 Aug.

Additional information including weather forecast data will be distributed to participants prior to the trip. Plan for a late morning to midday Friday start from Fort Collins to travel to the trailhead and allow time to backpack to campsite and establish camp prior to sundown.
