Summit 2026 – North Maroon Peak

All participants and leaders are REQUIRED to sign the State of Colorado's liability waiver. Please click here to fill out the waiver.

Our assigned summit is North Maroon Peak, but we will be reaching North Maroon via the Maroon Bells Traverse, a class 5 climb. Maroon Peak is a class 3 hike, the traverse has three class 5 sections of approximately 20-30 feet each, and North Maroon Peak will be a class 4 descent with one very difficult section. I will be bringing a climbing rope to belay people through the class 5 sections, and if people want, I can lower them through the class 4 section of the descent.

Participants will register for their preferred 14er through the Colorado Mountain Club website, where they will be placed on a waitlist for their chosen peak (you may join more than one waitlist). From there, trip leaders will reach out to gather more information about each participant's experience level and interests. For trips where the waitlist exceeds the allotted group size, participants will be selected by lottery.

Since we are all coming from Leadville and Buena Vista, we will not camp and will meet in the day parking lot at the Maroon Bells Trailhead at approximately 2 a.m. on August 1 (this could change depending on weather).
