Cascade Creek Trailhead
Located in the San Juan National Forest near Silverton, it is labeled on some maps as Engineer Mountain TH. Both trails lead to other trails including Colorado Trail Segment 25.
The Trailheads are located south of Coal Bank Pass, off US-550. Parking is located on the west side of Highway 550 where a dirt parking area services the Engineer Mountain and Cascade Creek TH's. Various online sources are contradictory but CoTrex is accurate:
Engineer Mountain Trail (Trail #508) Stay on the trail to connect with West Lime Creek, the CT, and others. 9.5 miles, 3130' gain. Leave the trail to summit the mountain. Most hikers stop just below the summit, as the final scramble to the top is Class 3–4 and not officially maintained.
Cascade Creek Trail (Trail #510), branches off from the Engineer Mountain Trail close to that TH. Leads to the CT via the Graysill Trail. 8 miles, 722' gain.
