Dome Rock Loop

A moderate loop in Dome Rock State Wildlife Area, seven miles south of Divide, including numerous stream crossings and massive granite outcrops.

As detailed in "The Best Southern Front Range Hikes", this trail extends into the heart of this Colorado State Wildlife Area (SWA), which adjoins Mueller State Park in Teller County, west of Colorado Springs. The last half mile of the trail reveals the views of Dome Rock and other granite outcrops.

A valid hunting or fishing license OR SWA pass is required for everyone 16 or older to visit most SWA's, including Dome Rock.

This trail includes numerous stream crossings, some of which can be challenging, even dangerous, depending on season and conditions. No dogs are allowed. Portions of Dome Rock SWA are closed from December 1 through July 15 for wildlife protection.
