Take Highway 9, 1 mile south of Alma, turn west onto Mosquito Gulch Road. Drive 6.8 miles to a point where the road turns left and crosses Mosquito Creek before climbing up toward Mosquito Pass. There's parking 0.1 mile after the left turn. This is an "unofficial" trailhead and is a good place to park if you have a 2WD vehicle. Walk to the junction of the Mosquito Pass road and the 4WD road which heads toward the upper end of Mosquito Gulch, hike for 0.5 mile on the 4WD road to reach another road junction, turn right.
The road ends at the mine ruins at 12,600' . Continue to the saddle at the north west towards end of the basin. Follow Tweto's southwest ridge on sometimes-loose talus to reach the summit.

Follow the loose rocky, undulating ridge, north west for approx 1 mile to reach the summit of Mt. Arkansas.  Reverse the route to Tweto and the TH.
