Pettingell Peak via East Ridge
A class 3 or 4 ridge line scramble to the top of a 13,553 feet tall peak on the Continental Divide. Roundtrip distance of approximately 8.8 miles with approximately 3,400 feet of elevation gain. You will enjoy views of Grays and Torreys, along with many other surrounding peaks.
This is an excellent entry level scramble. While there are class 3 and 4 routes along the ridge, there are many bypasses, allowing those who are uncomfortable with a particular section to go around.
There are easier routes up to Pettingell. The point of this route is the scramble.
The approach is from the Herman Gulch trail, departing for the ridge line just before Herman Lake.
