RMNP - Colorado River Trailhead

The Colorado River Trailhead is the access point for many trails in the northwest corner of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Note: RMNP restricts usage, parking, and entry depending on season and trailhead location. See the CMC Trip Planning Guide with a compact list of parking and entry requirements, alerts and closures, permitting, and general guidance. More general and contact information can be found at the RMNP website.

The Colorado River Trailhead is located about 12 miles north of Grand Lake, along the western-most side of US-Hwy 34/Trail Ridge Rd.  This TH is the point in the road that typically closes mid-October to Memorial Day.

From this location, explore a variety of uncrowded trails along the headwaters of the Colorado River, through the Kawnueeche Valley, and along the eastern edge of the Never Summer Range.

The TH has picnic tables, fire grates, and vault toilets.
