Rather than chance getting feet wet in the North Fork of the Big Thompson we hiked back on trail to Aspen Meadows camp where there was a bridge. There was very marshy down low as we moved south west from that camp BUT there was LOTS of downfall above. Eventually we had to fight the downed trees as we made our way up. After the trip looking at satellite topo maps it does not look like we could have done much better. It was a bit clear right next to a rocky knob on the way up, but still difficult. We did eventually reach an open area (avalanche chute?) just east of the north ridge of Dickinson. I recommend looking at a satellite topo map to plan your route up this way.
Following the ridge lines from Dickinson to Dundicking and Dunraven was pretty straight forward. From Dunraven we pretty much went straight down north toward Lake Husted. The terrain was VERY steep with scree just above the North Fork. Before reaching Lake Husted we turned east towards Lost Lake where we found a "non-maintained" trail leading to the campsites on the south side of the lake. We then connected with the trail leading back to the Happy Lost camp (our campsite). We did not go to Lost Falls because it involved a steep down hill off trail walk through a LOT of downfall and we were pretty tired.
See above.
