Brainard Lake Recreation Area Volunteer Day CMC + onX + USFS

All onX and CMC Volunteers need the following:

• Sturdy closed toe shoes or boots
• Small day pack to carry personal items
• Work gloves
• Rain jacket + layers (worksite is at 10,300’)
• Water / snacks / sack lunch?
• Sign USFS Waiver (Brian has it)

CMC Conservation will provide tools

• Joey and Brian will be at CMC Basecamp the day before loading / preparing tools
• USFS Trail Crew Staff and CMC Conservation will provide project work guidance and
  oversight. There will be a variety of work to accommodate differing levels of physicality.
• Most of the work we will be doing on this will include some or all the following:
  • Raking - leveling the machine-built tread surface already built by USFS
  • Light shovel work - digging drainage features to move water off the trail
  • Brush cutting with hand loppers
  • Brush dispersal away from the trail corridor
  • Hand sawing small limbs from corridor - nothing big and not cutting down trees!
  • Picking up rocks of all (small to medium) sizes and relocating them away from the trail
    or for use on trail.
  • Basically, general tread work - no heavy hard labor or building structures for this
    workday!
