This field day is geared around the basics of learning to cast a fly rod.

  • Sat, Apr 25, 2026
  • Denver
  • Fly Fishing
  • Adults
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

This is the first field day and you'll need your fly rod, reel, line, leader and tippet before this day.

  • You need eye protection to participate.
  • You also need to bring a hat to protect you face and head.

Be sure you fly reel has the line attached to the backing and the backing attached to the reel.

If you bought a fly rod package, this is probably already done. If you bought this from an fly shop and they didn't do that, take it back and as them to do that for you. We won't have the facilities to do that on the field day. If you're not sure, call your group instructor.

  • Bring food and water and clothing to keep you warm in case the weather is inclement or the winds pick up.
