Whether you are a person who has been hiking for a long time or you are relatively new to hiking everyone wants to be more efficient and hike with greater ease. This is especially true when going up and down hills. Hiking and walking form/technique is often overlooked as we pursue more challenging terrain. We just assume we are walking and hiking in a way that is strong and efficient since that is how we have been doing it all of these years. Or, if you are new to the sport you probably think something along the same lines.
In this workshop we will be learning some basic principles of body (and mind) alignment and relaxation (yes I said relaxation) and apply these to walking and hiking. This learn techniques to efficiently take on the hills, whether it is up or down. They are different techniques when done efficiently.
There are several other components to form improvement. All of this however starts with alignment and relaxation at the foundation. And, it can be fun to learn new techniques that help us improve our hiking. Finally, the most important idea is that all of this requires practice but with that practice comes increased efficiency, reduced fatigue and more fun.
The workshop will take place at the Colorado Mountain Club. Please be there by 8:20 AM to begin the course at 8:30 AM. We should finish up around 12:30 PM.
