This is an elective scrambling trip for the NoCo Alpine Scrambling Course. Priority will be given to (1) NoCo ASC 2023 Students, (2) NoCo ASC 2023 Instructors, and finally (3) all other registrants. Non-ASC students/instructors will be moved to the waitlist.
This trip will involve a challenging backpack with approximately 1,000' elevation gain to camp, then an additional 2,500' and 2,700' gain, respectively, on summit day scrambling over class 3 terrain to the summit. Trip scheduled for Friday, 18 Aug - Sunday, 20 Aug.
Additional information will be distributed to participants prior to the trip. Plan for a late morning Friday start to travel to the trailhead and allow time to backpack to campsite and establish camp prior to sundown. Plan to summit Wetterhorn Peak Saturday and return to camp. Plan to summit Uncompahgre Peak Sunday morning, break camp, and return to trailhead.
A high-clearance 4WD vehicle is needed to reach the trailhead. Brad has volunteered to drive with 3 passengers. We'll need a second 4WD vehicle to accommodate the remaining 3 passengers.
