Trail Stewardship: Gray Back Peak Day 2
Trail Stewardship: Gray Back Peak Day 2 Come help realign the Gray Back Peak Trail, which is near Emerald Valley off Old Stage Road! We will be building new trail to bypass a section that is too steep and eroded -- and the new trail will also have much better views of Emerald Valley and Mount Vigil. On the second workday, we will continue building rock walls to skirt a pile of boulders, create some basic tread, and make some climbing turns. https://www.cmc.org/community/front-range-groups/pikes-peak/upcoming-pikes-peak-group-events-trips-and-courses/trail-stewardship-grayback-peak-day-1 https://www.cmc.org/community/front-range-groups/pikes-peak/upcoming-pikes-peak-group-events-trips-and-courses/trail-stewardship-grayback-peak-day-1/@@download/image/20230624_140531.jpg

Volunteers, we will rendezvous at El Pomar's Penrose House Conference Center, 1661 Mesa Ave, Colorado Springs, at 7:30 to carpool up Old Stage Road

Volunteers must bring work clothes & gloves, water, snacks, lunch, sunscreen, and hat. The work area is about 0.9 miles and about 400 feet elevation from the trailhead. This project is open to the public, aged 16 and up -- under 18 requires the presence of a parent or guardian.

We will stop working at about 2PM so people can hike the 1.25 miles out to the summit -- it's a great destination that doesn't get visited as much as it deserves!

Once the project is full, we will not be able to accommodate any additional volunteers. This is for safety's sake - to retain a safe crew leader to volunteer ratio - and due to the number of tools available.  Please cancel if needed to make room for others, and join the wait list if the trip is full.

Location
Gray Back Peak Trail
Rendezvous Location is the back end of the El Pomar Parking lot, 1661 Mesa Ave, Colorado Springs
