Explore the snowy trails of Brainard Lake on snowshoes! Join the Colorado Mountain Club Youth Education Program for a day of snowshoeing, building shelters, learning about mountain weather, mindfulness, survival skills, and more! This camp is for all levels.

  • DAY/TIME: Saturday , February 25, 2023, 9:00AM - 4:00PM

  • LOCATION: Trips will depart from the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, Co. Transportation from Golden to/from trailheads provided. 

  • AGE: Grades 3-8

  • DESCRIPTION: Explore the snowy trails of Brainard Lake on snowshoes! Join the Colorado Mountain Club Youth Education Program for a day of snowshoeing, building shelters, learning about mountain weather, mindfulness, survival skills, and more! This camp is for all levels.
  • COST: Family Member Price: $79, Non-Member Price: $89 for a full day of fun. Lunch included.

Please note, if you have an individual membership and wish to sign up your child, you will need to create a separate guest account with a different email. You can also choose to upgrade your individual membership to a family membership to be able to register your child on your account and receive the discount.

Participant Packing List:

If you are unable to bring any of the items below, please let us know. CMC does have a few extra items that we are happy to loan out for the camp.

  • Clothes (comfortable warm clothing for climbing, hiking):
    • Loose fitting water proof pants or long underwear or hiking pants with waterproof snow pants or rain pants over them
    • Long sleeve shirt or baselayer 
    • Heavy Winter Jacket
    • Closed-toed, water proof sturdy boots
    • Extra pair of socks (cotton not recommended)
    • Sweater and/or warm layer  
    • Sunglasses  
    • Warm hat and gloves
  • Mask
  • Sunscreen and lip balm
  • Water bottle 
  • Backpack large enough to carry all personal essentials for a day hike
  • Personal medications (inhaler, EPI pen, etc.) – please have all containers and bottles labeled and also listed on the medical forms
  • Camera (optional)
